SOUTH Africans love their meat so much there’s hardly an occasion without it.
We always find an excuse to cook meat, and it’s always the star on the menu!
We prepare our meat in many ways, whether at a braai or shisa nyama, or with an oven.
If you are as obsessed with eating meat as followers of Fire and Feast Butcher’s festival are, then DO NOT miss out on this event happening from 26 to 28 May at the Dome in North Riding, north of Joburg.
This year’s programme is packed with activities such as the best local meat and how the best chefs prepare it – including pairing and cooking methods.
Paul Edmunds, sales and sponsorship manager of Reed Exhibitions, the festival organisers, said this event is going to be phenomenal.
“The festival offers something for every taste bud. There will be a range of food beverages and lifestyle exhibitors and, with the new dates in place, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to discover new food trends.”
With partner Crown National, the trusted supplier of spices, ingredients and equipment to the Mzansi meat industry, Edmunds said meat eaters will be keen to experience new ways to indulge in their favourite food.
“We will have exciting demo areas, including Pork 360, an interactive theatre dedicated to pork. There will also be cooking competitions such as the National Butcher’s Challenge.”
Visitors will be able to choose which sections to check out first – whether it be the beer and braai garden, lamb and mutton kitchen, beef kitchen or wine and food pairing zone.
- Tickets for the Fire and Feast Butcher’s festival, presented by Crown National, are available at TicketPro. They are R100 for adults, R80 for pensioners and students, and kids aged zero to 12 years get in for free.
