THE Great South African Bake Off is returning this month with a new judge.
Chef Zola Nene, who has a wealth of culinary knowledge, is replacing Shirley Guy who decided to step out of the Bake Off tent and pursue other projects and spend more time with her family.
An excited Zola said she started her career in the food industry as pastry chef, and she has always loved baking.
“I am hugely excited to be joining the South African Bake Off family. Simply because I am a big fan of the show, I know it is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to meet all of the new hopeful bakers and join them on this exciting new adventure.” she told SunFood.
Zola will be bringing her expertise to one of the most successful cooking shows in the world.
She is a well-travelled champion of South African cuisines and all of its diversity.
Her duties will include helping to put the new line-up of hopeful amateur bakers through their paces and really let them know if their potbrood are overdone or if their amakhekhe are too dry.
When she is not judging cooking competitions, Zola is a resident chef on SABC 3’s Expresso Morning Show.
The Great South African Bake Off is hosted by comedian Anne Hirsh and Lentswe Bhengu. Some exciting baking times are ahead!
The Great South African Bake Off Series 3 premieres on BBC Lifestyle (Channel 174) at 8pm on 17 October.
