THINGS change at varsity or college. Your horizons broaden and you get new challenges.
It is a world of great minds and many opportunities for young people to take their first steps towards finding their purpose independently.
Vega School, a brand of the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) is creating opportunities like that.
They give students a chance to travel abroad and experience how other institutions operate.
Exchange programmes like those at Vega School train students not only to be book smart, but also have an awareness of what the world expects from them.
Student exchange programmes allow students to experience how other institutions in other environments with other economies operate. This can broaden their perspectives of the world and enhance the value of the qualifications they are studying towards.
Students who participate in exchange programmes can share their knowledge with like-minded people from different countries and cultures, which enriches their understanding of theoretical concepts and conflicts in the real world.
Thys de Beer, senior brand strategy lecturer and manager for academic projects and collaborations at Vega School said: “By being forced out of their comfort zones, students soon start to view the world through a different lens, which not only allows them to explore international opportunities but also to become more resilient.”
Twice a year, four Vega students are selected to go on exchange for a full semester, where they are fully immersed in the curricula and culture of the host school.
“Working with like-minded institutions around the world is a huge asset when it comes to nurturing the next generation of creative, strategic and entrepreneurial talent,” said Dr Carla Enslin, head of strategy and new business development at Vega School.
