IT IS very important for pupils to get more information about the careers they want to follow.
That way they can make sure their chosen field is the right one for them, rather than finding themselves trapped in a career they don’t like later on.
This search for information is what led the Eskom Development Foundation to start the Simama Ranta School Entrepreneurship Education Competition in partnership with the Education With Enterprise Trust (EWET).
Many students are still not sure what to study after school, or are confused about their career choice. This school competition might answer some questions they have.
It aims to give pupils information on which path they can take after school, as well as what study choices they have.
It also helps them with some inside knowledge of running a business.
Those who want to become entrepreneurs or business owners can start to get insight into what makes a business grow through this competition.
It is free to enter and all high schools around Mzansi can participate. The competition continues until 16 June.
To qualify, schools must run enterprise clubs teaching pupils the basics of business through practical application while responding to their communities’ socio-economic challenges.
This annual competition awards winners with great prizes.
The overall winner receives R100 000.
Provincial winners get R50 000 in prize money, and runners-up R25 000. Each province’s second runners-up receive R10 000. To apply, send an email to [email protected].
