EVERY now and then, everyone needs a little inspiration as a reminder to follow their dreams but also take risks.
But being a young person in southern Africa comes with its own set of pros and cons:
To help make sure that our youth make the right decisions and create a promising path in life, national retailer Boxer Superstores has once again hosted their Boxer Youth Leadership Programme. Between January and February, pupils in grade 9, 10 and 11 could write and submit an essay to stand a chance to attend the youth leadership programme.
Held in Zinkwazi, KZN, the five-day youth camp equipped pupils with both soft and hard life skills.
This year 40 students from across South African and Swaziland were selected.
“Reading the thousands of essays was indeed an enlightening experience. Every single essay presented such hope and big dreams for the future.
“The most interesting part about all the essays submitted was that they shared a common sense of humility,” said Prenella Ragavan, Boxer’s public relations officer.
Each of the 40 pupils who entered the leadership camp left with a new sense of self belief, confidence and appreciation for who they are and what they have.
