THE Fifa international break came at the right time for Baroka FC.The two-week break gave Baroka’s injured players enough time to heal.
Bakgaga mentor, Kgoloko Thobejane, revealed his team was slowly becoming a hospital ward as some key players were out nursing injuries, while some were playing with knocks. Their new and big signing, Siphelele Ntshangase, has not been featured in the team’s last four games due to flu.
Richard Matloga, Talent Chiwapiwa were playing with knocks, while Lewis Macha and Mpho Kgaswane were out injured.
The Limpopo-based outfit will resume their league schedule with a tough encounter against Cape Town City on Tuesday night (7.30pm).
Baroka are currently at the top of the Absa Premiership with 17 points after 10 encounters.
Their hilarious outspoken mentor is aware of the danger that might happen if they fail to get maximum points against City.
He also revealed that his players were starting to feel the heat of being at the top as the race was getting tougher every weekend.
He said: “On Tuesday we are going to Cape Town, that game is a must-win for us.“We must come back with all the points. It doesn’t matter how we get them, we will fight. I was telling the boys not to panic. It’s never easy, we need to keep on working hard.”
Since the league started, Baroka have only lost one match and their scoring record has improved from last season.
This season Thobejane is banking on the likes of Gift Motupa, Macha and Chiwapiwa for goals. So far Motupa has found the back of the net five times this season and there’s a possibility of him reaching double figures if he can be more composed.
Said Thobejane: “Chiwapiwa is something else. That boy knows how to score goals.“I’m expecting a lot from him. His combination with Macha or Gift will kill many teams.
