IT looks like Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is still far from getting maiden domestic title of his coaching career.

This comes after his side, were knocked out in the semi-finals of Telkom Knockout by Bidvest Wits at Milpark Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Students defeated Amakhosi 1-0 to reach the final of the tournament where they will face winner between Polokwane City or Bloemfontein Celtic, who are playing tomorrow at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

James Keene opened the scoreboard scoring the only goal of the match in the 27th which ensured that the Clever Boys book a spot in the final of the TKO. The goal came just a minute after Chiefs young prospect Wiseman Meyiwa was sent out for stamping Wits player.

Amakhosi did not have a good first half, Wits were dominating the position and they had better chances as they went to the break leading by a goal to nil.

Wits proved to be better than Chiefs from the first minute of the first half after creating few chances which they couldn’t convert. Chiefs were always at the back foot as they played 40 minutes of the match without hitting target.

At the beginning of the second half the visitors who were one man down introduced Gustavo Paez replacing Daniel Cardoso. Paez presence was felt by Wits defenders as he kept them busy with his runs and it changed the games, Chiefs were more offensive compared to the first half but they couldn’t convert their chaces ended up losing the match.

Komphela joined Chiefs in June 2015 and he is yet to win silverware with the club.

He reached two finals, MTN8 where he lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape and Telkom Knockout, they were defeated by Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1on his first stint with the club, since then he never reached any final.

This season two cups are gone, MTN8, TKO and there are only two left which is the Absa Premiership title and Nedbank Cup.
