LIFE is good for Percy Tau at Mamelodi Sundowns.

And the 23-year-old has attributed his success to the Brazilians head coach, Pitso Mosimane, who gave him his Absa Premiership debut three season ago. And since then, the star from Witbank, in Mpumalanga, has never looked back.

Tau has won many trophies with Downs – two Absa Premiership, Caf Champions League, the Telkom Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup.

The youngster also has five caps with Bafana Bafana, having scored two goals.

“I’m having a great journey with Pitso Mosimane. I thank him for giving me a chance to play in the top flight and he believes in me,” said Tau.
“We’ve won many trophies together and so far everything is good. Pitso has also helped me to become the person I am today and I thank him for that.”

Tau insists that having many accolades doesn’t mean he should rest on his laurels.

He added: “The coach still demands more from me and I try my best not to disappoint him. I’m very lucky to work with a guy like Pitso who has a winning mentality all the time.”
Many Absa Premiership players dream of going play overseas, but that’s the last thing on Tau’s mind at the moment.

“All I’m thinking now is working hard and getting better everyday,” he said.

“Going overseas is something I can’t control. If it happens, it happens. Even if it doesn’t, I won’t have a problem. I’m playing at one of the biggest clubs in South Africa and Africa. My focus is on winning many trophies with Sundowns.”

Tau hopes the Brazilians will defend their Caf Champions League trophy in order to get another chance to play at the Fifa Club World Cup.
Downs made Mzansi proud when they competed in the competition held in Japan last year December, despite losing 2-0 to host side Kashima Antlers and 4-1 to Korean outfit Jeonbuk Hyundai.

Downs host Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg match at Lucas Moripe Stadium,in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, today (3pm).
“It’s a great feeling to win the Champions League,” he said.

“But the main aim is to get a chance to play in the Fifa Club World Cup, which is the biggest tournament in club football.
“I want to go back and play in that competition,” concluded Tau.
