THE Mamelodi Sundowns Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team arrived safe in the Netherlands.

That’s where they will play a series of friendlies plus a cup competition – which will be played for the first time this year.

The MDC champions arrived yesterday morning and they will be in the Netherlands for a week.

This tour is part of their price for winning the 2016/17 Diski Challenge.

Upon arrival, they had a light training session, preparing for tomorrow’s first friendly against PEC Zwolle reserves.

Earlier today they had another training session, then later they will attend the SBV Excelsior and Ajax Amsterdam league match at Stadion Woudestein.

This is a lifetime opportunity for coach David Notoane’s charges. They will visit Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) headquarters on Wednesday, and train under the watchful eye of Dutch legends Frank De Boer and Aaron Winter, coach of the Ajax U-19 team.

The MDC champs will test themselves against some top European teams in the Multichoice International Challenge, a one-day tournament involving three international teams: Excelsior Rotterdam (Netherlands), KAA Gent (Belgium) and Ichifuna FC (Japan).

The MDC international challenge will take place on Thursday. Downs will take on the home team Excelsior in the second semi-finals.

This is the third MDC tour to the Netherlands for Mzansi teams. University of Pretoria made the trip in the 2014/15 season, and Golden Arrows in the 2015/16 soccer season.
