THE South African Football Association is expected to unveil Ruud Krol as the new Bafana Bafana coach on Wednesday.

But stand-in coach Owen da Gama is still confident his charges will make Mzansi proud during the side’s international friendlies against Guinea-Bissau and Angola.

Bafana will tackle the African Wild Dogs at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (3pm), and meet Angola three days later.

Bafana will assemble for camp in Joburg today before travelling to Durban tomorrow.

Da Gama told SunSport that he had done his homework on the two opponents. The friendlies are part of Bafana’s preparation, ahead of the side’s crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in September.

Said Da Gama: “I watched Guinea-Bissau during Afcon in Burkina Faso and I also got their DVD’s that I have been studying thoroughly. I will also assess them again with my technical staff when we meet in camp.”

Added Da Gama: “I’m so excited about the spark which players like Manyama (Lebogang), Mnyamane (Thabo) and Erasmus (Kermit) will add into the team.

“The most important thing is integration and gelling to get combinations right to ensure they are all on the same level.”

Da Gama revealed that the association was working around the clock to ensure all international players were available, including Kamogelo Mokotjo, who had accepted Dutch citizenship after retiring from Bafana.

Explained Da Gama: “Everything is well on track.

“We expect other international players to arrive on Sunday, and those who will be playing for their respective clubs on the day are expected to arrive on Monday.”
