TEBOHO Moloi wants to be appointed Chippa United’s permanent head coach, having served as assistant at Orlando Pirates for many years.

He thinks the time has arrived to be in charge permanently.
Moloi is currently serving as the Chilli Boys’ interim coach following the shock departure of Dan Malesela a fortnight ago.

Moloi started deputising at Pirates in the 2005-06 season.
The 49-year-old Soweto-born legend worked as an assistant under Pirates coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic, SuperSport United coach Eric Tickler as well as Maselela.

Moloi has also been in charge of Buya Msuthu in the ABC Motsepe League.
“I don’t know how many years I have been an assistant coach. But it’s been too long,” he said.

“I would love to be appointed head coach. To be a head coach you need to have people around you, but you will be the one who makes the final decisions.”

Moloi said he was impressed with his team’s display after being in charge for only two league games – and holding SuperSport United to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday and Platinum Stars to a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

“I only had one day to prepare the team for the Platinum Stars game,” he said.
“The performance against SuperSport was remarkable.

“SuperSport are a great team and the fact that they are playing in Africa says a lot. And we were able to hold them to a draw,” he said.

“To get a point and a goal against them was fantastic. I am happy for the boys and with the performance they displayed.”

Moloi, who also has two Bafana Bafana caps to his name, has warned his boys that a draw or loss at their local hunting grounds of Nelson Mandela Bay and East London would not be acceptable.

“We have to make our home venues a slaughterhouse,” he said.
“I can accept getting only a point away, but not at home in front of our supporters.”
