Rio, here we come!
BANYANA Banyana captain Janine van Wyk is determined that South Africa national women's football team will be fully fit before the start of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Van Wyk is among the 22-woman squad representing Mzansi in the internationally respected tournament next month.
MODISE: STOP CONDONING MEDIOCRITY
The tournament, held every four years, is this time being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It runs from 5 to 21 August.
The twenty-nine-year-old defender said: “Our confidence is very high but we still have few things to touch up on. I think we are 80% ready and by the time the Rio Olympics start we will be 100% ready.”
Banyana will be going to Rio having lost three games and only winning one against neighbours Zimbabwe.
They have one more preparation match against New Zealand on the 28 July in Brazil before they start their Rio Olympics duty.
