Bafana Bafana hopes of qualifying for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia suffer a massive blow after an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to the Cape Verde Island at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday night.

The result leave South Africa rooted at the bottom of  their Group D with four points after four matches.
Cape Verde winger Garry Rodrigues scored a wonderful brace to put his nation on a verge qualifying for the Russia World Cup.

His first came from a long rage free kick and then second was a snap shot that gave Wayne Sandilands no chance. Bafana managed to pull one back in the last minutes through Andile Jali to set up the chance of a glorious fight back but it was too late.

Bafana now need to win their last two games in the group to have any chance of advancing but will need to depend on other results in the group.

Stuart Baxter's charges will conclude their qualifying campaign with a home game against Burkina Faso next month and will hoping to have a decent points advantage when they go to Dakar for their last group game against Senegal in November.
