IT WAS a bad way to lose a competition!

It ended with a whimper, not a bang.

When 22-year-old Equatoguinean goalkeeper, Felipe Ovono, made the blunder that led to Orlando Pirates conceding that goal to Tunisian powerhouses Etoile du Sahel in Sousse on Sunday, the writing was on the wall.

The Tunisian Red Devils deserve all the accolades and the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup crown after a 2-1 aggregate victory over Bucs.

African club competitions can rightly be compared to being in a jungle with a multitude of wild animals – you either fend for yourself or you will be eaten.

And the Buccaneers got eaten, having actually lost this trophy in the first leg last week already, when they drew 1-1 with the Tunisians in Mzansi.

There were a lot of schoolboy errors on Pirates’ end, which ultimately cost them a trophy they could easily have won.
