CHIPPA UNITED have roped in Zipho Dlangalala as assistant coach to Dan “Dance” Malesela.
Dlangalala left Orlando Pirates last year December, where he was in charge of their MultiChoice Diski Challenge side.
He joined the Soweto giants in July to help develop quality players into the first team.
But his stay was
short-lived as his side struggled to make an impact.
SunSport has learnt Benson Mhlongo will be his replacement as the new head coach of Diski Challenge side.
Chippa boss, Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi, reckons Dlangalala’s experience will help his side reach greater heights.
Said Mpengesi: “Zipho’s experience speaks volumes. He’s highly respected for youth development and he’ll add value to the team.
“I’ve no doubt that, together with Dan, they’ll bring success to the club.”
The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach is well-known in football circles, having guided Sundowns’ feeder side, Als Puk Tawana, to the Nedbank Cup Last 16, where they lost to Orlando Pirates six years ago.
Mpengesi said they have yet to decide whether they will release players or venture into the transfer market before the window period closes on 31 January.
“I still need to have a meeting with the coach to find out which areas needs to be strengthened before we resume the season,” explained Mpengesi.
The Chilli Boys have yet to replace midfielder Joseph Molangoane, who left the club under a cloud to join Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in December via the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.
