SIBUSISO “Villa” Vilakazi has FINALLY put pen to paper!

SunSport has learnt from reliable sources that the Bidvest Wits striker has joined Mamelodi Sundowns on a three-year deal for the 2016-17 PSL season.

It it understood that the restless Wits player signed on the dotted lines on Friday and will join the Brazilians in Chloorkop when they return from continental duty.

Downs were in action against Egyptian giants Zamalek in their Caf Champions League duel at Cairo International Stadium last night.

Vilakazi joins Downs for an undisclosed sum in a move that will see Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele travel in the opposite direction to join Gavin Hunt’s Clever Boys.

SunSport understands that both clubs are keeping the news under wraps for now, until Malajila and Ngele can be told when they return from Egypt. An official announcement is planned for Wednesday, where details about the move will be made public.

“It is just a matter of making things right,” our source said yesterday, also confirming that Vilakazi was training with Wits players this weekend.

“The player (Vilakazi) is happy about the whole development and is excited about finally realising his dream of joining Sundowns.

“He was no longer happy at Wits and indications are that the Wits coach wouldn’t be happy either, having to hang on to an unhappy player.”

Efforts to get confirmation from Sundowns’ Sizwe Nzimande, Wits CEO Jose Ferreira or Vilakazi’s agent Mike Makaab proved fruitless as they were unavailable for comment yesterday.
