Eric Tinkler believes that his team committed too many mistakes, despite Cape Town City garnering a 1-0 victory in the Cape derby against Ajax Cape Town.
The Premiership new-boys collected maximum points in an entertaining affair at the Cape Town Stadium, courtesy of a 20th-minute strike by Bhongolwethu Jayiya, but the former Orlando Pirates mentor was not particularly pleased with his side's performance.
"I thought it was a game with way too many mistakes on out part both offensively and defensively," he told SuperSport.
"Defensively we gave the ball away too cheaply and our clearances were poor, we allowed Paulse too much time to win headers.
"Them winning the second ball was something we should never allow. Towards the end there we were allowing them to play the balls into the box which is always going to pose a threat.
"Then going forward, the chances you create aren't put into the back of the net and we could've ended up losing this, never mind the draw."
Tinkler highlighted that his charges would have to minimise their mistakes if they were to 'go far in this league.'
"I'm happy we got the three points but not happy about the mistakes we keep making. We need to eradicate that because if you want to go far in this league you need to get rid of that," Tinkler continued.
"I think it was very entertaining for the fans, it was an end to end game and we both had chances and they all come from the mistakes that we maded. So, it's three points but I'm not happy with the performance.
"We're creating the chances but we need to put them in the back of the net, that's very important. You can't forget the principles that we worked on at the beginning of pre-season," he concluded.
