Former Free State Stars coach Giovanni Solinas admits it would be an honour to coach a team of Orlando Pirates' calibre, but insists that there has been no contact from the club thus far.

El la Koto parted ways with Solinas on Wednesday, drawing a close to the Italian mentor's second stint at the club.

His 13 games at the helm of the Bethlehem based-outfit garnered five losses, five wins and three draws in all competitions.

The 48-year-old, who was linked with hot seat at the Soweto giants prior to the appointment of former coach Muhsin Ertugral, revealed that coaching Pirates would be a dream come true.

"At the moment I have not had contact from Pirates," he told TMG Digital. "But Pirates is a big club.

"It's one of the best clubs not only in South Africa but on the African continent.

"So everyone wants to coach Pirates. To coach Pirates is a privilege and an honour."

Having coached Algerian giants ES Setif, Solinas says he is more than capable of handling the pressure that comes with taking charge of a big team, in addition to stating his immediate plans for the future.

"Setif is the same as Pirates in Algeria. They have the same colours - black and white," Solinas continued.

"I know the Champions League and Confederation Cup. I have travelled on the continent.

"I am staying because I love this country. I love the people.

"I have fallen in love with this country. I have travelled in Africa but South Africa has a particularly special charm," he concluded.
