THE 2017-18 National First Division (NFD) season looks like it will be a long campaign for Jomo Cosmos.
Just under six games into the new season Ezenkosi have already received two big fines from the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
On Monday the PSL released a statement stating Cosmos had been slapped with two hefty fines totalling R39 900.
The statement revealed that Cosmos were fined for two cases relating to their NFD fixture against Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila in Vosloorus on 9 September.
- “Failure to ensure that their team was present in the change room 70 minutes before kick-off. The club admitted liability and paid a fine of R 22 800.”
- “Failure to furnish a typed starting line-up. The club admitted liability and paid a fine of R17 100 as this was a repeat offence”
This is a sign that Ezenkosi could have one of the toughest spells in the NFD this year.
Early this year they were fined R50 000 for failing to honour a NFD fixture against Cape Town All Stars on 31 March.
Cosmos didn’t have their playing kit and registration cards on match day.
- Ajax Cape Town and Free State Stars have also been charged in the Absa Premiership .
Ajax was charged for failing to provide adequate security at their home venue during their Premiership fixture against FS Stars FC on 17 March.
This resulted in a spectator throwing an object at the match officials. The club admitted liability and paid a fine of R11 400.
Stars were charged with failing to comply with the PSL Compliance Manual after their representative failed to arrive on time for the pre-match meeting ahead of the same match. The club admitted liability and paid a fine of R 5 700.
