Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has called on his senior players to alleviate the pressure on Percy Tau.

The 22-year-old Tau was one of Downs' standout performers in 2016, but has struggled to find his best form in recent weeks.

Indeed, he looked a shadow of himself when missing several excellent opportunities to score in Sundowns' clash with Polokwane City on Tuesday.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw and leaves the Brazilians winless in their last three league games.

With Khama Billiat injured and Leonardo Castro also struggling for goals, there seems to be an expectation amongst the Sundowns players for Tau to produce the goods, and he has managed six league goals in 16 matches this season.

But with the Pretoria side struggling to find their best form, Tau has battled to make an impact of late and appears to have taken a confidence knock judging by his misses against Polokwane.

"The load is heavy on Percy, he should not be leading us, the seniors players should be taking over and Percy should be on the side but in tough times that is not the way it is," Mosimane explained.

"And games are coming thick and fast, we have a lot of games no one in this country gets games like us. Sometimes we play Tuesday and Wednesday, I have never seen anything like that," he added.

More bad news for the Brazilians is that Sibusiso Vilakazi could be out for some time after limping off injured against Rise and Shine.

"I think Vila is going to be out for very long, hopefully Khama (Billiat) comes back. You know because when times on tough you can see some of the guys are crumbling," Mosimane said.
