BIDVEST Wits sensation, Phakamani “Mshini” Mahlambi, said he won’t let the reported interest on him by local and overseas big clubs distract his focus.

The 18-year-old player, blessed with skill, pace and an eye for goals, dreams of plying his trade in the German Bundesliga or the English Premier League in the not-so-distant future.

Mahlambi has adapted to the Premiership like duck to water.

His exploits have helped Wits become one of title contenders and he was rewarded with the November and December Player of the Month award. But a modest Mahlambi, who hails from Vry-heid in KZN, doesn’t want to get carried away. The youngster insisted he will continue to keep his feet on the ground.

“Indeed, it’s been a remarkable season for a rookie like me, but I keep reminding myself we haven’t achieved our objectives to win at least one cup.

“We’re aware Mamelodi Sundowns are running away with the leaugue title, but the aim is to catch up with them and take it from there,” said Mahlambi.

Turning attention to upcoming Olympic Games in Rio in August, Mahlambi said: “It’s time we raise the country’s flag higher!”
