AFTER his side narrowly survived relegation last season, Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia believes they will be a force to be reckoned with this time around.
Kadodia was forced to make changes and has assembled a squad he believes will be able to compete and achieve much this season.
The Team of Choice will begin their 2016-17 Absa Premiership campaign against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium tonight (7.30pm) and Kadodia thinks they have a good chance of collecting maximum points.
“Maritzburg United are more than just a soccer team, we’re a brand,” he said.
“We need to start acting like it. The way we play and the quality of players we bring in should show how serious we are about this brand,” explains Kadodia.
“This season I have assembled a strong team I believe will take the brand to greater heights. We can’t afford a repeat of last season. This time around I told all my senior staff that I want to achieve things. We need to win a cup and make sure we have a strong finish in the top eight.”
He said: “I had a stern talk with the whole team before they travelled to Bloemfontein. They understand what is expected of them in this match. I believe they will come back with all the points.
“Last season we didn’t start well and that affected us throughout the season. We can’t afford to do that again,” repeated Kadodia.
The experienced two former Bafana Bafana defenders, Bryce Moon and Bevan Fransman, along with Zimbabwean international striker Evans Rusike are who Kadodia will be counting on to do well this season.
