NATIONAL First Division returnees Highlands Park have kicked out 12 players as they prepare for life in the lower division.

SunSport understands that heading the club’s massive clear-out is Franklin Cale, who has had an offer from an unidentified club in Cyprus, as well as Rudi Isaacs, Thanduyise Khuboni, Lebo Ramolesa and Fikru Lemase.

Other players who are on their way out are Siyabonga Nhlapho, who returns to Bidvest Wits, Teboho Kalake, Christopher Komane, Jean-Piere van der Merwe, Mashane Ndlovu, Mbulelo Ngcobe, Sanele Queface and Grant Bruchausen.

According to SunSport’s source, the players were due to be told about the club’s decision yesterday after the club management unanimously agreed on Monday to release the 12-some.

Our source shed some light: “This was bound to happen when the club got relegated to the lower division.

“The club still needs to iron out a few things and the management hopes to make a quick return to the top flight. This past season in the PSL is one the majority of the board members regret. They never saw it coming.”

SunSport also understands that bulky Zambian international Collins Mbesuma and ageing Surprise Moriri have asked to remain with the club and help them get back to the PSL quickly.
