MAMELODI Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane wants to turn the Brazilians into a mean machine!

Having signed a four-year contract with the Tshwane outfit, Mosimane has big plans for the Premiership champions. The former Bafana Bafana coach wants to turn them into regular Champions League campaigners.

Mosimane celebrated his new contract with a 2-1 victory over Enyimba of Nigeria in their Champions League Group B encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday.

Leonardo Castro and Wayne Arendse’s goals saw the Brazilians bag the three points in a tricky group, now featuring three teams.

Downs are now tied on three points with Zamalek, while Enyimba are bottom of the group after two rounds of matches. Downs visit Zamalek in the next game on 17 July.

The return leg against Zamalek will be played in Pretoria on 27 July – and that is the game Mosimane believes will decide who tops Group B. The top two teams in the group advance to the semifinals.

Mosimane said: “It was not the best performance but who cares – we got three points. We have one foot in the knockout stages. In my opinion, the group winners will be decided when we play Zamalek here at home.”

Commenting on his contract, Mosimane said: “I received the contract on Wednesday, I signed it and delivered it – and I’m happy. It’s a four-year contract but contracts are nothing. I was fired at Bafana even though I had a contract. My job has to speak for itself.”

In the next match he said they would bring back Percy Tau, Motjeka Madisha and maybe three more youngsters, while goalie Denis Onyango is also back from suspension.

Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun said a draw would have been fair result: “We have to beat Sundowns at home and hope one of the teams does us a favour.”
