BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic have to finish in the top eight.
Holding midfielder, Musa Nyatama says it is the players’ mission to move up the Absa Premiership table and please one of their sponsors, MTN, to take part in the first competition of the new season.
Celtic have been struggling so far this season and have only managed 15 points from 14 matches in the first half.
But Nyatama believes that Phunya Sele Sele will get out of their slump and achieve what seems to be impossible at the moment.
“We have 16 games to play and we can still do it. We have a long way to go. It will be tough, but we will work hard to get to a respectable position.
“I hope I will help the team stay in the PSL, but most of all to get a top eight position. MTN is one of our sponsors and it will be good for us to take part in the MTN8,” he said.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player said with a leader like interim coach Lehohonolo Seema they will be able to become a better side.
Nyatama said their last match in the first half of the season was an indication that they were starting to turn things around.
Seema’s charges beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 away at the Orlando Stadium. After coming back from a goal down, Tshepo Rikhotso scored the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game.
“We are working hard to start the remainder of the season well, to continue where we left off. The win against Pirates gave us motivation and we are starting to pick up as a team,” added Nyatama.
The 29-year-old said although Seema was a strict coach, he was able to stimulate and motivate them to do better.
He said: “He is a young coach and open to ideas, but he is strict and wants things done right. We need someone like him who will always push us because we are honestly not safe. He will help us do better.”
