BAROKA FC are hoping to beat the odds and break their duck to win their first home match of the season when they host Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership clash tomorrow.
Bakgaga goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke is determined to keep a clean sheet and guide his team to their first victory at home against Amakhosi at Peter Mokaba Stadium (8.15pm).
Baroka have not won any of the 11 matches they have played at home in all competitions this season.
They have not won a league game in their last five attempts. The last time the Limpopo based tasted victory was on 15 October last year when they defeated Cape Town City 2-1 in Cape Town.
Of the 20 matches played in their maiden PSL season so far, they have only won two, drawing eight and losing a massive 10.
This sees them languishing at the bottom of the table with 14 points. They have conceded 30 goals and are three points behind fellow strugglers Highlands Park who are 15th in the table.
Bakgaga played to a goalless draw against Chiefs in the first round.
Masuluke says they won’t give up – there’s still time for them to climb up the standings and avoid the axe.
He said: “Playing Chiefs is motivation of its own. There’s a lot of pressure as the team is not doing well, but our (Nedbank) Cup victory last weekend was a big morale boost. We know what Chiefs are capable of, we have nothing to lose. We will go all out make sure we get something from this game.”
Masuluke admits it’s disappointing that they have not won a match at home, saying it has become a serious concern.
- Meanwhile, Highlands, who have won only three games, host Maritzburg United at Makhulong Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm).
