IT’S sink or swim time for the 23 players who made an impact in the Nedbank Ke Yona Team.

The players will face PSL side Bidvest Wits and Tuks University team in friendly games to impress the coaches before the final selection on 11 August.

The squad will be trimmed down to 18 players who will tackle last season’s Nedbank Cup champions, SuperSport United.

Ke Yona Team, coached by Mike Mangena, Khabo Zondo and Owen Da Gama, will be in camp at the University of Pretoria High Performance Centre from 5 to 11 August.

Zondo revealed this season was one of the most difficult seasons for them.

Zondo said: “Players are now getting used to the Ke Yona Team.

“We’re starting to see better players technically and in decision making.

“So far, the challenges we’re facing are in the goalkeeping and striking departments. But we can’t put them under immense pressure.”

But Zondo is confident his charges will get a goal against Matsatsantsa A Pitori.
