AMAZULU FC captain, Thapelo Nyongo, has promised they will bounce back to their winning ways in the National First Division (NFD) when they visit much-improved Jomo Cosmos today at Olen Park Stadium (3.30pm).
Usuthu started their 2015-2016 season on a positive note as their aim is to bounce back in the Absa Premiership this season.
But a fortnight ago they were surprised by inconsistent FC Cape Town with a 2-1 defeat at home which was their first defeat of the season.
Captain of the team Nyongo believes their defeat was an eye opener.
He said: “We lost our last game which reminded the team we’re not in this race alone. It’s part of the game, either you win, lose or draw. It’s passed now and we’re looking forward to Cosmos.”
Usuthu and Cosmos have met four times while they were still playing in the PSL in the 2009-2010 and 2011-2012 seasons. They drew all the four matches, and today they will be meeting for the first time in the NFD.
Cosmos are coming to this game confident after collecting maximum points in their last two games where they defeated University of Pretoria
1-0 at Tuks Stadium and Mthatha Buks with the same score line.
Nyongo says they know what to expect from Cosmos and they will handle them.He said: “It’ll be a tough game, but I’m sure our tactics will save us. We must collect all the points.” “We have been doing well when we are playing away so we want to continue with that good record.”
He is also happy to have Mabhuti Khenyeza, Siyabonga Nomvethe and Vukile Mngqibisa in the team.
