ROYAL Eagles players are looking to capitalize should National First Division (NFD) log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu relapses. Eagles are in third place in the NFD log table just six points behind Amabhubesi.
Facing struggling
University of Pretoria this Saturday (3.30pm), Eagles are looking to keep their
unbeaten run at home.
The Pietermaritzburg based Eagles have played five matches at Harry Gwala
Stadium and they yet to lose.
They have won four and drew one. They also have a good scoring record at home having scored 19 goals and let in six. Raymond Monama said they have told themselves that at home they need to collect maximum points.
"We really have no excuse not to win at home. So far we are showing that we mean business at home. Home games are a must win for us," said Monama.
The attacking midfielder added that their aim is to make sure that they are not far behind from Thanda.
"We know that Thanda won't win all their matches. So, that is why we want to capitise should anything go wrong for them. For us to overtake them is by keep on winning our matches. They will relapse and we won't be far behind," said Monama.
Eagles didn't start the season the way they would have wanted. But recently they have found their footing.
According to Monama what has changed their fortunes is understanding what their coach, Kostadin Papic, wants from them.
"He is a new coach and it was hard for us at the beginning to understand his style of play. But now things have changed and you can tell by the recent results."
He said even though they never played Tuks before but they need to win at all cost.
"We can't afford to drop more points. We have seen Tuks playing on TV and we know what to expect from them. It won't be an easy match but we are ready for them. We are playing at home so we must win," added Monama.
