DESPITE suffering their first defeat of the season, AmaZulu striker Siphesihle Nzimande said it’s the wake-up call they needed.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for Usuthu faithfuls as their team sunk to a 2-1 NFD defeat to FC Cape Town in a windy Sunday afternoon at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
But to Nzimande this defeat was not a train smash.
“Look, in football you need games like this. Yes, It is not nice to lose especially at home but for me I think it is wake up call. It shows us how cruel a game of football can be sometimes,” explains Nzimande.
The former University of Pretoria marksman added that they will bounce back in style.
“Who knows, maybe this was our first and the last defeat of the season. In my opinion this defeat shows us that there is no time to relax.
“I also think if it wasn’t the bad weather things would have turned out differently. They are used to playing in windy conditions and we are not. We will bounce back and the good thing about it is that we are playing at home again in our next match,” said Nzimande.
A second half brace from Siyabonga Dubula was enough to see off AmaZulu who to took the lead through a first half own goal from Koloko Mokhethi.
The defeat cost Usuthu a chance to regain their NFD top spot that they had surrendered to Thanda Royal Zulu last Wednesday. Unbeaten Thanda continued with their great form with their fourth win in five games beating their neighbours Kings United 5-1.
Amabhubesi have now scored 10 goals in two matches and they are now three points clear at the top of the table.
