IN LUKE 17, Jesus teaches about offences and forgiveness.
He says, “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him through whom they come!”
O ffences are unavoidable because they are an integral part of relationships. Child of God, you might be offended by someone and feel betrayed and seek your revenge. Offences are a major reason for relationship failures in life.
O ffended people are dangerous people. They can find themselves pushed into
extremes.
You might be reading this article as an offended person: are you offended by your loved ones, your family members, employer or your colleag ues? Jesus warned that offences are unavoidable.
We will surely be offended in one way or the other. In order to overcome offence, you must be willing to fo rgive.
Jesus taught that when we forgive othe rs, God will Himself forgive us our sins. Paul the apostle concurs, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.
F orgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).
Ephesians 4:32 says: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave yo u”.
Diane Murphy, actress Demi Moore’s character in the film Indecent Proposal, says: “The things two people do to each other, they remember. If they stay together, it’s not because they forget: it’s because they forgive.”
Forgiveness is a powerful spiritual act. Let’s forgive one another. If we learn forgiveness, we shall prosper.
Husbands, forgive your wives, and wives be kind, forgive your husbands. Children, forgive your parents, and parents please forgive your children.
This will yield happy and prosperous families. Let us forgive one another and we shall prospe r.
