Marriage came about as a result of the need that God identified for the man He has created. When He saw this need,
Jehovah exclaimed, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis 2:18). God then caused man to fall into a deep sleep, took out his rib, mixed it with mortar and built a suitable helper for man.
This precious present and gift from God to man is called a woman. Abuse of women occurs when we fail to recognise a woman as a priceless gift from God. Adam knew that his wife was a gift taken out of his body.
Genesis 2:23 says, “The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man.”
Anyone who abuses his wife hates himself because a woman is taken out of a man. As I indicated in previous teachings, the love you give to others is the expression of your self-love. You can only love your wife as you love yourself.
Most marriages are compromised because of the disobedience of man. God instructs man to get out of his father’s house to establish his marital home. (Genesis 2:24) “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united with his wife, and they become one flesh”.
Brother, get out of your father or mother’s house and establish your own. Do no lodge in the back room in your father’s residence. Establish your own house even if you are the lastborn son.
