In 2007 when Jacob Zuma was still deputy president, many people supported him to replace Thabo Mbeki as president.
A faction within the ANC favoured Zuma’s election. He then became the president of the country. Now that the same principle should apply to replace him, Msholozi is playing a different tune. He insists that the ANC president doesn’t need to be replaced by the deputy president.
If this is the case, he should have raised this in Polokwane and refused the presidency.
The two main candidates for the presidency are Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-
Zuma. Zuma is playing tricks to sideline Ramaphosa in favour of his former wife. This action will be met with strong resistance within the organisation and factionalise the already divided ANC.
For the sake of peace and stability within the party, Zuma must refrain from commenting on who should replace him.
