The number of teen pregnancies should serve as a wake-up call to all parents.
It seems young girls who don’t have children idolise those who proudly carry Sassa cards.
The government offers free contraceptives and safe sex campaigns. Girls can’t claim to have fallen pregnant by mistake anymore.
Since all parents want what’s best for their children’s future, they have the responsibility to teach them about the consequences of engaging in unprotected sex. HIV and Aids claim the lives of our loved ones every day.
The days when it was taboo to talk to your child about sex are over. If you stick to that, you will regret it when your child is HIV-positive or becomes a teen mother. We need to sit down with our children and help them map out their future.
Children who have goals to achieve seldom go off the rails. They listen to their parents’ teachings and make wise decisions. Let’s all take part in uprooting teen pregnancy in our country. If we do that, we will be raising business women.
