Opposition parties seem to misunderstand the Constitutional Court’s ruling regarding the secret ballot.
The court ruled that the decision to allow a secret ballot lies with Baleka Mbete.
I don’t understand why the opposition is so excited by the court’s ruling.
After all, Mbete might decide to call for an open vote.
How will the ruling further their cause if the power still lies in Mbete’s hands?
What puzzles me the most is the fact that the opposition is relying on ANC MPs to vote in their favour.
ANC members might not vote against their president even if the secret ballot is allowed to take place. It seems the opposition is trying to achieve the impossible.
If ANC MPs are disciplined, they will not allow opposition parties to make them act against the ruling party’s policies and principles.
The DA must accept that the ANC fought for decades to liberate the masses and the public will not let go of that hard-earned freedom.
The DA must prepare itself for many years of campaigning in their mission to take over from the ANC.
