Our pride can make or break us.
Negative pride is self-centred and produces a profound darkness in the minds of those who tolerate it.
People with such pride have a high opinion of themselves and often want to be the centre of the universe.
It becomes difficult for them to admit that they have a problem and need help.
They act as if they know everything.
When they’ve wronged others, their pride never allows them to apologise. Such attitude jeopardises a healthy social lifestyle. They have more enemies than friends and miss out on important information.
When pride rules in you, you also become greedy and jealous of other people’s success. The people with positive pride are those who do everything in their power to protect their dignity.
They have a healthy social lifestyle and try new things to prosper.
We must swallow our pride and take part in the society we’re living in. We must love and respect others, just as we expect them to do the same for us.
We need to start by building good reputations, become the pride of our families and then of our communities.
Let’s swallow our negative pride and work well with others. That’s when we can expect to be respected and supported for without the support of others, we won’t succeed.

- Wise words indeed. There are many leaders in our country who have become obsessed with the personality cult – namely their own personalities – and in doing so lose sight of the very people they serve. This letter wins R200 today.– Editor
