A sermon is essentially an overspill of the preacher’s character and experience. It’s a simple principle: if you have not yet experienced it, you are not qualified to preach about it.
The early church apostles were effective in their preaching because their sermons were an interpretation of how they lived.
John testified: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled, is the Word of life.”
But guess what? Some modern-day preachers have cunningly devised means and methods to speak without merit or morals.
A preacher and his preaching cannot be separated, but some preachers are able to submit a presentation that is not a faithful reflection of their true self.
When God gives you a revelation, live it before you preach it. That’s the normal and moral order of events, but sadly this has been abused in the name of faith.
