T he reality is that unemployment is high in South Africa and many South Africans are living in poverty.
The unemployed are even more vulnerable and many of them are scammed.
Unemployed people have no income and as a result cannot put food on the table.
Poverty and hunger make people so desperate that they make poor decisions.
Criminals and scammers take advantage of their situation by promising them jobs, thereby taking the last money from the vulnerable, poor and unemployed.
Some of them borrow money from loan sharks to pay scammers for so-called employment opportunities.
They hope that they’ll get employed and will then be able to pay back the loan.
But they later find out they had been scammed and end up even poorer.
People must be aware that scammers are always out there looking for ways to make money in illegal ways.
It is clear that jobs are not being sold in the public or private sector.
We must learn from the fact that many people were conned out of their last money by scammers because they’re desperate to get a job.
Many such cases have been reported in the media, but people still fall victim to scammers.
It is appropriate to repeat the warning that people must not be lured by dishonesty. No good will come from this – only harm. Apply for a job through the proper channels, where you don’t have to pay, and go for an interview.

Job seekers get so desperate that they are prepared to pay to get a job – something they should not do. Scams are everywhere, and most of them have the common goal of conning those who are naive enough to believe the false promise of a job. This letter wins R200. – Editor
