PATIENTS at Thembalethu Clinic in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga are spitting fire.
They claimed nurses are ill-treating them for demanding good service, after weeks of allegedly poor service at the clinic.
Mums claimed they were made to wait for hours just to have their children vaccinated. They told Daily Sun that instead of helping them, nurses locked themselves in their offices, eating siphatlo.
One mum claimed: “They told us the person responsible for vaccinations was not available.”
She said it also happened the previous week. “They are rude and tell us they are short-staffed. They even told us the clinic isn’t a Sassa office. I was at the clinic since 6am and was hungry and tired.”
She claimed the nurses told them it wasn’t their problem that things were moving slowly. “They bought themselves three isphatlo and locked themselves in their office while our kids were tired and hungry,” claimed another mum.
Health spokesman Dumisani Malamule said the department doesn’t approve of bad behaviour.
“Anyone found guilty of such accusations will be dealt with. We encourage people to put complaints in writing and name or pinpoint officials who harassed them. The department will check and hold the person responsible accountable.”
