The video of a pupil being manhandled by a teacher at a high school in Krugersdorp, Mogale City, has drawn mixed reactions on social media.

A VIDEO of a teacher manhandling a pupil at a high school has divided users of social media.

Some people said the teacher from the school in Krugersdorp, Mogale City, should not have handled the matter that way, even if the pupil was wrong.

But others said the pupil was disrespectful and got what he deserved!

The incident apparently took place on Friday during a sports day at the school.

According to witnesses who spoke to Daily Sun, the teacher accused the boy of hiding something illegal in his bag.

One witness claimed the teacher tried to take the bag, but the boy refused to give it up. “That’s when he manhandled him,” she said.

The video shows the teacher pushing the boy and dragging him by his collar. The boy tries to fight off the teacher but fails.

A man who appears to be a security guard intervenes and separates the two.

Facebook users had different opinions about the incident

  • Sipho Ngwetsheni wrote: “No child should be manhandled like this. This nonsense can never be justified.”
  • Senatla Mohakabe wrote: “That kid was disrespectful. Everyone can see that.”
  • Gauteng Education spokesman Steve Mabona said the department has seen the video and has started interacting with the school’s management.
