accreditation

A SHOOTING outside a nightclub in Imbali, Pietermaritzburg left one man dead while another is fighting for his life in hospital.

The incident took place yesterday at 2am.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said paramedics were called to the scene by staff members from a clinic opposite the nightclub.

“Upon arrival paramedics found that the clinic staff were treating both men. ER24 assessed the men and found that one had already died due to multiple gunshot wounds. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead,” said Meiring.

The second man was also found with gunshot wounds, leaving him in a critical condition.

“Advanced life support intervention was performed on the patient before he was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” Meiring said.

KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said: “We can confirm the incident that took place in the early hours at Imbali where victims were shot by unknown people.

“A 26-year-old man died from his injuries and the other victim is still in hospital.

“The motive for the shooting is unknown. Charges of murder and attempted murder were opened at Plessislaer Police Station for investigation and no arrests have been made.”
