ON SUNDAY, the Sekola family from Botshabelo was saved from death by their toilet.
It happened after the car crashed into it in the dead of night.
The tragic accident claimed two lives and left the Sekola family with no toilet.
Yesterday the Sekolas were relieved when the family of the dead woman came and rebuilt the toilet.
The story appeared in Daily Sun on Wednesday.
Makgotso Sekola (54) said she and her husband, Vincent, and their granddaughter (4) were grateful to have their toilet back, but believe it may be cursed.
Makgotso said this was because the bricks used to rebuild the toilet were the same as the previous ones.
“But I didn’t want to bother the grieving family with my fears because they were generous.”
She said it was still difficult for her family to sleep at night.
“We live near the main road and I fear the toilet might attract more deaths,” she said.
“But I don’t have enough money to consult a sangoma or prophet to chase away the evil which may be surrounding the toilet.”
Makgotso, who is the only breadwinner in the house, said she was worried that her family would never have a toilet again.
But then the victim’s family came and told her that they would rebuild the toilet following the accident in which their daughter, Pulane Mahlelehlele (25) died.
Pulane had lost control of her white Opel Corsa and crashed into the toilet. Both she and her passenger died.
Sangoma Sipho Maduka told the People’s Paper that Makgotso should slaughter a white chicken and sprinkle its blood around her new toilet to cleanse it.
“She must mix the blood with water from the sea to chase away the evil spirits,” said Maduka.
