CREATIVITY and imagination is everything.
Knowing what you want to do – and how to do it – is key to success.
Not only that, one has to take a practical step towards that dream.
Buhle Sithela (20) dropped out of college due to a lack of money last year. He was studying events management.
In June last year he started a bin washing project in Harare, Khayelitsha, together with his three friends Abongile Mqweto (20), Sivuyile Gwabe (20) and Nicho Brownley (21).
They charge only R50 to wash the bins for the whole month. They collect the bins and wash them every Friday at Sithela’s place.
He named the project Bin Cleaning Project and aims to expand the business around the province.
“The community supports us. They know we are doing a good thing,” said Sithela.
He told Daily Sun after he dropped out of school, he knew he had to do something to make some money. “Many people in my area go to work, others are pensioners and others do not have time to wash their bins and it can be a health hazard.”
His dream for events management has not died, however. “I’m planning to have a street cinema in the kasi. People need cinemas but they are expensive in town and they have to take a taxi,” said Sithela. He said the dream will be fulfilled if he gets support to buy screens, chairs and other resources.
