RESIDENTS came in large numbers to the Magistrates Court in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng yesterday.

They were there to support the family of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted by two farmers at the weekend.

The men appeared in court on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping.

The farmers allegedly tortured the girl and accused her of stealing a springbok.

The girl’s brother (28) said the farmers were heartless!

He said his sister came home on Saturday afternoon, shaking in fear and crying.

“She said she had gone out to play with her four friends and when they passed a farm on their way back home, they were chased by two farmers.

“Her friends managed to get away, but she didn’t.

“She said the men beat her up, wanting to know why she was on their farm,” said the brother.

“She told us the men tied her to a tree and fired several shots next to her.”

He said the girl was freed after several hours of torture. The case was postponed until tomorrow for a bail hearing.

The suspects were kept in jail.
