“MY STEPDAD tried to kill me because I refused to move from a chair!”
Admire Sithole (24) of KwaThema in Springs, Ekurhuleni is now fearing for his life.
He told Daily Sun: “My stepdad Shadrack Khoza met my mother when I was 17 years old. I have never bothered him but he always tried to make me feel small and told me how I’m nothing.”
Admire’s mum Annah Sithole (49) sells fruit and vegetables at the Duduza Taxi Rank and Admire often helps her.
On Sunday, Admire said his mum asked him to run the stand because she would be going to church.
“She gave me clear instructions that I was not allowed to give anyone money, no matter what,” he said.
“While I was sitting on my mum’s favourite chair selling, my stepdad arrived and asked me what I was doing there.
“I explained to him that my mum asked me to sell her fruit while she was at church. He started swearing at me, but I ignored him. He then told me to give him money but I explained to him that my mum said I should not give anyone money.
“He told me that I think I’m the man and demanded I move out of my mum’s chair and sit on a crate because he wanted to sit there,” he said.
Admire refused, which almost cost him his life. He alleged that his stepdad attacked him.
When he fought back, his stepdad allegedly produced a knife. He was stabbed and required eight stitches.
Annah and Admire have moved back into Annah’s family house.
“I love my son too much and I’ll stick with him through thick and thin,” said Annah.
When approached for comment, Shadrack Khoza said he stabbed the stepson because he stole the money.
“That money was for buying stock. When I approached him he was aggressive. That’s why we ended up fighting,” he said.
Shadrack claimed his stepson is a nyaope addict.
KwaThema police confirmed that a case of attempted murder was opened against the suspect and the case was under investigation.
