GRACE Mngomezulu’s joy about her mum and son’s tombstone has turned to sadness.
She said the picture on the tombstone is not her mother. It is a total stranger, she claims.
Daily Sun published her sad story of the long wait to have her tombstone erected. After it was erected, there were many things wrong with the grave.
“This is totally wrong. I can’t believe this is worth the R24 000 I paid. The picture on the tombstone does not even look a little like my mum.
“This is an insult,” she said.
“The tombstone itself also has so many cuts and joins I doubt it will survive even one rainy day.”
Daily Sun visited the grave at Avalon Cemetery in Soweto and it was clear the tombstone was not in good condition.
The upright part can easily be shaken and it seems there is no cement under it to anchor it to the ground.
There is also a space on the flat part that looks as if it could make it cave in any time.
Grace said this was careless and clumsy work that no service provider could be proud of.
“They must come to the cemetery and look at their work and tell me if they are happy with what they have delivered here. I think they did this on purpose to punish me and to make me sad because I complained about them missing their deadline.”
She said they should be ashamed of themselves.
“The least they could have done was to do a proper job.
“I really love the people who are resting here. This hurts me so much,” she said.
Phumla Gamete of Bogosi Memorial Tombstones said her husband would deal with it.
“I won’t be commenting on that matter. My husband is taking care of it and he will contact you people.
“He recently lost his phone and he travels a lot so he will contact you about the matter as soon as it is possible,” said Phumla.
