THE family of late maskandi singer Mgqumeni Khumalo want his grave exhumed!

This follows the ruling at the Pietermaritzburg Court last month which found Sibusiso Gcabashe guilty of perjury (lying) and fraud. He was also found guilty of kidnapping, rape and assault.

Sibusiso raped an 18-year-old woman from Ixopo in 2011. Yesterday he was expected to appear for sentencing.

The Khumalo family has claimed that Sibusiso is Mgqumeni. They say he was kidnapped and fed soil and milk by people who wanted to turn him into a zombie.

However the court did not believe their story and instead found Sibusiso guilty of trying to impersonate Mgqumeni.

Mgqumeni’s brother, Dalingcebo Khumalo, said the family was not discouraged by the judgment. Instead it has made them more determined to prove that Sibusiso is indeed Mgqumeni.

Mgqumeni’s mother’s family, the Mselekus, with whom he grew up, also believes the grave should be dug up, but for a different reason.

“We believe the exhumation is going to disturb our cousin but let it be done. This way everyone will get to see that my cousin was buried. We want the world to see what liars the Khumalos are. We hope they will actually get arrested for what they are doing,” said Sakhiseni Mseleku.
