BATHUSI Maqine (25) said his goat skull is his protector from evil spirits and physical harm!
He said since he’s had the skull, he has never been harmed.
The young man from the Tshwane CBD said his skull stick is always by his side.
The stick has the skull of a goat and a traditional ornament which he was given by his gogo attached to it.
Bathusi, an art student at the Tshwane University of Technology, said he created the stick last year after a family cleansing.
He carries it with him everywhere he goes, especially in dangerous places, because he has faith that it will protect him.
Bathusi said the stick also protects his friends.
He calls it the selfie stick.
Bathusi said he began seeing the power of his stick last year during the fees must fall protest at the Union Buildings.
“I was in the front line and all the people that I was with got shot by rubber bullets.
“But I was not.
“Even the teargas didn’t harm me.”
According to him, the stick protects him the same way Moses was protected in the Bible.
“When Moses’ enemies wanted to hurt him, he used his stick as protection,” said Bathusi.
“That’s what my stick does for me.”
Bathusi found it uncomfortable to carry the stick and skull separately.
He came up with the idea of tying them together.
He said other students at campus didn’t understand why he carried it, but they eventually got used to it.
Bathusi claims he has never been to a doctor thanks to his selfie stick.
