A GRADE 3 pupil has not been going to school for almost six months – and his dad is worried the boy might spend the whole year at home.

The 10-year-old boy was allegedly suspended from Mariannridge Primary School in September last year after he allegedly attacked fellow pupils and teachers while screaming wildly.

Now his father wants the KZN Education Department to intervene because the school won’t take his son back.

He said the teachers told the boy’s mum he suddenly behaved wildly even though nobody had angered him.

The teachers allegedly told him they would accept his son back if he returned with a doctor’s letter confirming that he was normal.

The boy’s mum said she took her son to the RK Khan and King Dinuzulu hospitals a few week later, where he was found to be stable.

“When I took the letter to the school I was told the school doctor was going to examine the boy again and I should wait for his call.

“But nobody has called me since then.”

The mum said when she tried to send her son back to school last week, one of the teachers told her the child was no longer welcome.

Kwazi Mthethwa, spokesman for KZN’s Education MEC, said: “If the doctors said that the child has no mental problem, he should be accepted back at the school. We are going to follow up on this matter.”
