GONE are the days of learning under trees for pupils at Vezulwazi Primary School, thanks to SunPower!
The school in Pomeroy, near Msinga in northern KZN, has received four mobile classrooms from the education
department.
Daily Sun published their story at the beginning of March.
Parents had started moving their children to other facilities as the school hadn’t been fixed since being wrecked by a storm in December.
They said they couldn’t stand seeing their children being taught under the trees and staying home when it rained.
Now all the parents’ worries are gone after the surprise delivery of mobile classrooms to the school on Tuesday.
School governing body chairman Cedric Sithole told Daily Sun all the parties involved were satisfied with the department’s help.
“We thank Daily Sun for pushing the department to help the school. Everyone is very impressed.
“Now no one wants to remove their children from the school because there is hope that they will also fix the classrooms wrecked by the storm.”
Education spokesman Sihle Mlotshwa has confirmed that four mobile classes were sent to the school as a temporary solution. “We provided alternative classrooms while we are fixing the damaged classrooms.
“We have added the school to a list of the schools to be renovated,” said Mlotshwa.
